Human body cannot produce the crutial mineral for living, sodium. The only supply for sodium is through sodium chloride. The taste we seek for actually is a life surviving choice.

One of the most important role of food grade salt is conservation. Many years before refrigrator or any other modern food conservation methods were discovered, salt was the only protector of food. Salt consumes the water in the food items and avoids any bacteria to reproduce. This makes the food consumable continiously.

Table salt does not seperate from others by the means of NaCl content. In Turkey, table salt standards are constituted by Turkish Food Codex Salt Notification and TS 933 Table Salt Standards.
